Verweigert euch!

The current struggle over economic interests and an international (re)ordering of the world is not confined to the ‘hot’ conflict zones. There are also countries which, whilst not directly affected by the hostilities, are nonetheless experiencing the ‘logic of war’ more acutely than at any time in recent memory. The supposed necessity of collective military readiness is being forcefully instilled in people’s minds and institutions with seemingly unstoppable momentum. Debates on rearmament and conscription employ a language and conviction that make alternative visions seem virtually impossible.

Countless movements worldwide, which campaign for a liberated society, are faced with the question of how they can resist war and its logic whilst continuing to fight for a dignified future for all. For it is precisely these struggles ‘from below’ in which the prospect of peace opens up – a peace that is fought for against the very conditions that give rise to war in the first place.

The anthology *Verweigert euch!* is intended as a contribution to a broader anti-militarist quest for means and possibilities to counter the spread of warlike violence in our present day and the transnationally interwoven conditions that underpin this violence.
