Description

In June 2022, the ‘Kollektiv IfS dichtmachen!’ collective organised a conference in Merseburg to discuss both the challenges and opportunities of anti-fascist protest, and to consider how best to respond to recent developments within the ‘New Right’. The discussions centred on the fascist ‘Institute for State Policy’ (IfS) in Schnellroda (Saale district). Alongside experts who spoke on a wide range of aspects of the self-styled ‘New Right’, the floor was also given to activists in Saxony-Anhalt who are actively seeking to dismantle centres of the far right, focusing in particular on the ‘hinterland’, i.e. rural areas. The conference proceedings, *Fascism in Intellectual Disguise*, contain not only contributions on New Right ecology, the IfS’s education policy, and the ideology, practices and networks of the far right centred around the IfS, but also the outcomes of discussions on the legal and political options available to local anti-fascists, as well as proposals for anti-fascist counterstrategies.

With contributions by Lukas Dintenfelder on the political education of the ‘New Right’, Nadine Langer on New Right ecology, Henriette Quade on political strategies against right-wing property, and Stephanie Heide on local alliance-building against the far right.
